TÜV SÜD Conference in Munich

JMDA Attend TÜV SÜD Conference In Munich

Under a new staff development programme at JMDA Design, Product Design Engineer Emma Harris attended this year’s TÜV SÜD 14th International Conference “Protection of Children in Cars”.

JMDA Design, whose Headquarters are based in Pershore, Worcestershire are industry leaders when it comes to child car seat design.  The team’s mission is to provide global product design and engineering expertise to help their clients grow and succeed through innovative, impactful design. With training and development at the heart of the business, Product Design Engineer Emma Harris, was given a fantastic opportunity to travel to Munich earlier this month for this year’s TÜV SÜD conference which focussed on the new test requirements of EURO NCAP starting in 2016, the new CRS/Car compatibility requirements as well as in-depth analysis of improved accessibility of ISOFIX anchorages.

Emma explains ‘This year’s conference was extremely interesting. Besides the need for child restraint testing to be more representative and accurate across the industry, we discussed phase II of the R129 regulation and the introduction of I-Size Booster seats’. She goes on to say, ‘It is very important that a representative of the company attends industry related conferences and events such as these organised by TÜV SÜD. It is vital we stay abreast of the ever-changing regulation if we are to remain at the forefront of child car seat design.

In addition to the EURO NCAP and CRS/Car compatibility requirements, the progress of human models, their validation and new scaling procedures were also discussed. Attending the conference along with designers, safety engineers, accident researchers and paediatricians were representatives from professional organisations whose aim is to promote the use of child restraint systems throughout the world, especially in countries where their use is not currently the social norm.
