Cherril and Derrick Barker meet Prince Charles at Buckingham

A Royal Engagement for JMDA Design

On Tuesday 11th June, JMDA Design Founders and Directors, Derrick Barker and Cherril Barker were guests of HRH Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace in celebration of their Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2019 for International Trade. In a once in a lifetime occasion, all 201 winners of this year’s Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2019 were invited to a champagne reception, hosted by the Royal Family in recognition of their outstanding achievement to industry.

JMDA Design who announced in April they were winners of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2019 for International Trade, were cordially invited to Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty the Queen as part of the award celebrations, for the Royal Family to personally congratulate this years’ winners.

Cherril Barker, Marketing and Finance Director at JMDA Design, describes the evening, “From the moment we entered Buckingham Palace, we felt so privileged not only to be in the company of the Royal Family, but also to be gathered with the other Queen’s Award Winners. Meeting HRH Prince Charles and talking briefly of our achievement, surrounded by the grandeur and opulence of the palace was a wonderful experience and a night we will never forget”.

Winning a Queen’s Award for International Trade 2019 is the pinnacle of the last 28 years of innovative product design, with over 95 car seats having been designed by JMDA to date. Building a reputation for designing children’s car seats and increasing road safety through innovative design has been coupled with demonstrating impressive growth over the last three years.

Next month JMDA Design will host a reception, in which the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire will formally confer the award by a Grant of Appointment, which will be symbolised by the presentation of an impressive commemorative trophy.
